San Francisco
I called Sean around 2am to see when he thought he'd be coming home, and he said he'd be ready in about twenty minutes. Warren and I got in the car and starting driving to pick him up. Unfortunately, I made a wrong turn and ended up going over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco (which cost me $2), so we were a little late. We eventually made it back here around 3, and all of us crashed.
The next day we woke up around 11:30. We spent a few hours showering and planning the rest of day. Around 2, we walked 1.5 miles or so to the nearest BART station and took a train to San Francisco. Our original plan was to take a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf to get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We wandered around trying to find the cable car turnaround and eventuall found it about 25 feet from where we got off the train. There was a huge line of tourists (not surprisingly), and eventually we decided to take the Muni instead.
We went back down to the station, paid our $1, and then realized that we should have taken the F-line, which is a streetcar line and runs above-ground only. Luckily you get a transfer ticket when you pay your fare, so we took an underground train two stops to The Embarcadero, got off, and waited for the F-line.
The trip on the streetcar took about 20 minutes, and we got off right in the middle of Fisherman's Wharf. We walked over to the beach near the Maritime Museum and walked out onto Municipal Pier, where we got great views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. We came back, I frolicked on the beach and in the water, and then we headed back.
We were going to try taking a cable car back to the BART station, but the line was even longer going this way, so we took the streetcar back. We hopped on a BART train to Berkeley, where Sean visited some record stores. We ate at some random bar & grill, and then Warren and I took a train back to the hotel.
Sean stayed in Berkeley to browse through a record store some more and see the show at 924 Gilman (which I decided not to see). Hopefully the photos from before today will be up shortly. Our hi-speed internet expired, so the ones from today will have to wait until we're at Preston's.
